Wombourne 5k Over And Done With For Another Month

Well a chipper 45 people rolled out for the pleasant Wednesday night run, Good stuff and the womens record went by a substantial amount too. Tom Warrender made it two out of two although missed out on his breaking his record in a time of 15:49 (OMG!) and Richard Baker managed to keep his 26 events in 25 days going nicely. Richard has a Blog which when I find the link for it I will post along with a podcast from Richard.
The ladies race was won by Karen Hallas in time of 18:45 (CR), followed up by Jane Jones in 19:05.
Congratulations to the Living Springs Ladies who rolled out again for the event, it was lovely to you all there and we look forward to seeing you all there again on the 30th July. Entering early makes it all a little bit cheaper and much more straightforward us.

Wombourne 5k Series, Record Entries But Will There Be A Record Time?

A few interesting notes about tonights proceedings, if you've not heard anything ye then a small amount of bad planning on our part means that we hope you will turn up on the night. If the weather is good, we'll have the flags out on the field and do registration over there, alternatively we'll be int he dry side changing areas where we were last time.
We've got an Amazing Special guest tonight, Richard Baker from Amazing Feet Running Club. He's doing 30 races in 30 days, and tonight he's at the Wombourne 5km Time Trial. If you are not entered yet there are places for on the night entrants available.
Get your self down to Wombourne Leisure centre tonight around 6.

Race Movie Database Is A Go Go
As some of you may or may not have seen I've been fiddling around with a small camera mounted to my bike, there is now a section on the home page (bottom right-ish) and another on the right hand side (Race Movie Database). Its a little different from the finish line movies but you will get the idea at some point.
From a timing point of view I'm stretching the market towards running events and possibly Sportive's so this should give much more in the fun to watch stakes.

Les Bailey Makes The Big Time
Basically if you've done an event with Worcester Triathlon Club in the past 10 or so years, you've probably come across the dry stylings of Mr Les Bailey. Ever since I've known him he's been the active life and sole of the race from director to athlete (and sometimes both).
If you didn't know at the grand old age of 71 years young he's done his last Ironman, Lanzarote and did it in style beating the course record and then some. Tri247 have a complete interview after the link but I snagged the opening paragraph to get you started...
"Normally, when most people reach their seventies, they just want to
kick back, smoke a pipe, drink the odd gin and tonic, do the crossword,
etc, but not Les Bailey. No, definitely not! He has the mind and body
of a much, much younger person and to top it all, has just become a
World Record holder! For anyone who has met Les (and if you have, you
certainly won't forget him) you can't help but be totally inspired." Carry on reading at Tri247...

Triathlonbooks.co.uk Is Back Online
For those of you who are astute www.triathlonbooks.co.uk has been offline for a while. This was an amazon related problem which has now been fixed. Normally I am one to write it all myself but I am currently looking at a store product which is off the shelf.
Anyway, without further ado welcome www.triathlonbooks.co.uk back to the fold.

Dk 5k, Ratcliffe Makes Its Twice In Week

Yet again furthering his list of wins, Jame Ratcliffe smacks down a win at the Gavin Tipper 5K. A convincing lead from the gun saw Ratcliffe Bring home the bacon in a time of 15:26. First Lady back in a respectable time of 18:06 was Tessa Parkinson .
Congratulations to all who took part and especially to Kevin Duckworth ( Race Organiser) and his team from DK Running Club who put on a cracking event.
Well Done all.
