Gavin Tipper
It is with enormous sadness that Black Country Triathletes announce
the sudden passing of Mr. Gavin Tipper, chairman of Black Country
Triathletes, on the 21st August 2007. Our sincere condolences go out to
his wife Mandy, his son Jacob and his daughter Lara. Our thoughts and
wishes are with them at these very sad times.
Gavin was a tireless volunteer in both triathlon and athletics. Ever present at events organised by Black Country Triathletes, spending many hours marshalling events and helping competitors ensure their day was one to be remembered. Gavin also invested much of his time and energy ensuring The Black Country Triathletes junior section ran smoothly. Both of Gavin’s teenage children also enjoyed triathlon and regularly took them to and from training sessions and events around the Midlands.
Gavin competed in many triathlons and road races over the last few years representing BCT in over a range of distances. Gavin was also part of the BCT cross country team who successfully gained promotion in the Midland league in the last two seasons.
We will also miss the big man, but never to be forgotten.

Well being the clever so and so that I am, and in all fairness an idea from a collegue over at www.in5ane.com. I've implemented something a little web2-ish, well actually what I have done is made the photogallery a little more interactive so that when you come across a photo in the gallery which hasn't got a race number attached to it you can enter the number and help expand the database.
This means that the photos get tied to the athlete results a whole lot quicker and its makes the database a whole lot more complete. If you feel like randomly adding information I am always pleased with the input, remember now! Just the race number.

Upton On Severn Photos

I was having a tidy up of my computer today and found some images from the Upton Triathlon 2007 and I've put them on-line, On the subject of triathlon photos I've been banding around this statement for the last couple of days so I thought I would put it here on-line too.
I am looking at running an experimental photo system and was wondering if there were and budding photographers, triathlon widows, non participants, or athletes who were generally there for the fun more that then racing who would be interested in this little project, Its not going to make you rich but it might cover the odd race entry here and there. If you have your own digital camera and some time to spare at races (any races actually) then please get in touch using the contact form at the top of the page

With the Olympics around the corner all about triathlons would like to encourage all youngsters to compete generally and the Xtreme Terrain Festival is a great place to start.”
This race will use the existing adult 10k cross country route through the stunning Surrey countryside, but juniors need only complete one of the 5k laps. Registration on the day and full details of all events can be found here www.allabouttriathlons.co.uk

Wychaven Results - Videos Now Online
Well Wychaven done and dusted for another year, I've put the results up but I am aware of a few issues surrounding them at the moment, video and podcast to later on with some information about the event.
If your missing from the results or a dnf please get in touch it could be for a couple of reasons ( number, folded over/wrong) there were no DQ's so its fairly straight forward
Update: Video from the finishline now available, thanks to the kind person knocked over my camera! to everyone who got wonky footage, sorry :(

Video Updates

I have been waiting for an upgrade to the hosting company I use but have moved on temporarily while I wait, If you were caught on video at Upton or Erewash Triathlons then the videos are online.
Click on All results, then click on the event, and then click on the the icon next to your name ( far right) and you should get a video of yourself finishing, no icon no video I am afraid. I'll be looking at the content from the Arundel Triathlon again shortly, there were some issues with the encoder ( probably me trying to be too clever...)
